Online Forum on Clinical Application Advances of Cryosurgical System: the First Session

On October 19th, the first session of online forum on clinical application advances of Cryosurgical System was held as scheduled.

The traditional cryoablation has many problems such as insufficient ablation zone, needle tract bleeding and tumor seeding metastasis risk. • Stronger tumor killing mechanism

Since its birth, "phase change technology" has received widespread attention and expectations, with high level and difficult challenges. The technical bottleneck has been broken constantly in the past 20 years, and the advantages and disadvantages of traditional cryoablation have been preserved and avoided respectively to form a new generation of ablation tool. In addition to the traditional basic mechanisms of cell dehydration and ice crystal piercing, the ultra-low temperature of -196°C makes tumor ischaemia more severe, and the strong hyperthermia function of 80°C significantly enhances the thermal stress on tumor cell rupture and gives a new mechanism of coagulation and necrosis of tumor cell protein molecules, which is also positively and practically helpful to stop needle tract bleeding and prevent the tumor metastasis. 

We have a number of new cases of Cryosurgical System in 2022, all with relatively good outcomes and results, such as the use of Cryosurgical in combination with targeted immunotherapy for liver cancer, lung cancer ablation with cadiac problems and COPD based diseases, selective ablation for cholangiocarcinoma after combined therapy, combined ablation of recurrent chondrosarcoma with dangerous location after surgery plus radiotherapy and chemotherapy, pain relief for severe pain caused by multiple lymph node metastasis of colon cancer, and pain relief for severe pain caused by multiple lymph node and multiple organ metastasis of cervical cancer and lung cancer. The development of minimally invasive field led by Chinese medical care is happening from possibility to reality, and Cryosurgical  solution is becoming the cornerstone of action to popularise the cryoablation technology in primary medical facilities.

Minimally invasive interventional therapy has opened up a new era in the local treatment of tumors, and a variety of ablation techniques have brought traditional treatment modalities into the sequence of modern civilisation. Chinese medical practitioners have been diligently seeking and forging ahead, from first acquaintance to familiarity, from curiosity to expertise, from experimentation to practice, constantly exploring the road to national health. The development and innovation of better tools will also be facilitated by the development of basic research in the histology and cytology. Low temperature is the key to cryoablation therapy. 

Ice crystals pierce the cell membranes and organelles of water-rich cells, which facilitates the release of large amounts of tumor antigens and their recognition by the organism, is a key consideration in the ablation of Cryosurgical System. In recent years, interventional tumor treatment methods have become more and more abundant, and doctors need to choose different techniques for different situations, and pay attention to the adaptation of the technique itself to the patient and the disease. From the perspective of thoracic surgery, Cryosurgical System will become one of the priority treatment options for early pulmonary nodules, and the control of ablation boundary will also help the ablation treatment of malignant tumors. Immunostimulation is indeed an important factor to be taken into account in the comprehensive evaluation of the Cryosurgical  System.
